Study on the Interaction between Cationic Gemini Surfactant and Water-soluble Polymer

Abstract In this paper, a cationic Gemini surfactant, 1,2-ethane bis(dimethyl dodecyl ammonium bromide) (12-2-12) was synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis and 1H NMR, and interactions between the cationic Gemini surfactant and a water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were investigated by means of viscosityelectric conductancesurface tension and ultraviolet spectra (UV). The results show that PVA displays a special viscosity behavior in aqueous solution containing the Gemini surfactant 12-2-12, which is due to the molecular interaction of the polymer and the surfactant. In addition, the solution of the Gemini surfactant 12-2-12 shows unusual behaviors in electric conductivity, surface tension and ultraviolet spectra (UV) in the presence of PVA.

Gemini表面活性剂与水溶性聚合物间的相互作用研究

摘要 通过粘度、电导率、表面张力以及紫外吸收光谱等手段,研究了水溶性中性聚合物聚乙烯醇(PVA)与阳离子Gemini 表面活性剂1,2-二亚甲基-(十二烷基二甲基溴化铵)之间的相互作用。结果表明,PVAGemini 12-2-12之间有一定的相互作用,从而使体系表现出异常的粘度行为,显示出显著的电粘效应,并导致其混合溶液的最大紫外吸收峰发生了红移,且PVA的加入对Gemini 12-2-12溶液的电导、表面张力和临界胶束浓度均产生一定的影响。
