Molecular Structures and Preparation of Non-ionic Silicone Surfactants Du Yang, Liu Zuliang, Lu Chunxu Abstract Silicone surfactants are an important class of novel
surfactants. Due to their unique properties, such as high surface active, super wetting
and spreading abilities, good heat-resistance and physiological safety, they are used in a
wide range of applications, including polyurethane foam and textile manufacture, paints
and coatings, cosmetic and as agrichemical adjuvants. In this paper, the molecular
structures and common synthetic methods of non-ionic siloxane polyether copolymers are
reviewed. The side-reactions during the manufacturing processes are discussed in detail.
