Studies on Mechanism for Synthesis of Octylglucoside Catalyzed by Zinc Chloride Chen Kan, Zhang Jianhua, Chen Zenai, Lu Yang Abstract The mechanism to synthesize the octyl-D-glucopyranosidel catalyzed by zinc chloride is suggested. The factors that affect the constitution of products are discussed. The experiment results show that the substituent in C-2 of D-glucose is the major factor for the ratio of a-isomer to b-isomer.Key words Mechanism of the reaction, Octylglucopyranoside
