| The representative work of the renowned 17th-century British natural philosopher and chemist Robert Boyle（1627.1.25 —1691.12.30）, The Sceptical Chymist, is a masterpiece in the history of science. The publication of this book is regarded as the beginning of modern chemistry. In his book, Boyle systematically expounded his fundamental understanding of the composition of matter and his thoughts on the material world, which prominently embody his chemical ideas and experimental philosophy. The criticism of the traditional elemental theory, the exposition of the corpuscular theory, the exploration of chemical research paradigms and the efforts to demystify chemistry in the book have promoted the emergence of modern chemistry. |
